Tag LITE

Tag LITE is a low cost RTLS tag for battery-powered UWB TDoA and BLE Zoning scenarios, where recharging and maintenance procedures for RTLS tags should be rare or avoided. For example: changing batteries every 12+ months.
The device is suitable for long-term installations in remote areas or other places, where recurring maintenance is expensive and the direct USB power supply for RTLS tags is problematic. So using batteries for RTLS tags becomes the only possible option.
Tag LITE includes UWB chipset, BLE chipset, 3-axis IMU and two ER14250 batteries (2×1200 mAh). By default, the PCB antenna is used for UWB, but it’s possible to order a batch of Tag LITE devices with the SMD chip antenna instead.
ER14250 model of batteries has been selected specifically for the needs of UWB transmissions, which require a higher discharge current than typical CR-series batteries can provide (e.g. CR2477).

PCB Components
- BLE chipset and antenna: Nordic nRF52832, SMD chip antenna
- UWB chipset and antenna: Qorvo/Decawave DW1000, PCB antenna, SMD chip antenna is also possible
- 3-axis accelerometer: STMicroelectronics LIS2DW12
- Power supply: 2 x ER14250 batteries – 3.6V, 1200 mAh each
RTLS Technologies
- Custom UWB TDoA algorithm for highly scalable and low-power 2D RTLS scenarios, which need 50-60 cm accuracy for RTLS.
- UWB TWR is supported for experimental purposes only and shouldn’t be used in any real projects with Tag LITE. Please select Tag PRO when your primary scenarios include UWB TWR.
- BLE zoning based on RSSI and Kalman filtering - suitable for room-level tracking scenarios.
- Sensor telemetry for RTLS tags over UWB or BLE payloads - accelerometer, gyroscope, temperature.
